BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League today announced they have acquired the rights to forward Tyler Liebel from the Arizona Sundogs in exchange for future considerations. The Mudbugs will now work with Liebel on a contract agreement that would bring him to Bossier-Shreveport for the 2009-10 CHL season.

"Tyler has certainly earned the respect of the players that have played with and against him in this league," Head Coach Scott Muscutt said. "He's a competitor and a guy who works hard and battles. He's got the ability to score goals, get assists and be physical for us. If his energy level is as high as it used to be, then he can be a great asset to our hockey team."

Liebel brings five years of pro experience into next season, four of which have been spent in the CHL with Wichita and Arizona. As a Sundog last season, he scored 10 goals and 18 assists for a total of 28 points in just 38 games. The 5-10, 185-pound winger also finished an injury-shortened 08-09 with 65 penalty minutes.

Liebel played his first two professional seasons in Wichita, where he was a teammate of current Mudbugs Joe Blaznek and Travis Clayton. He enjoyed his finest pro season to date in 2005-06, notching 18 goals and 56 points in addition to 219 penalty minutes in 61 games.

The Osoyoos, British Columbia native spent the following year in the ECHL before returning to Wichita for the 07-08 season. He was traded to Arizona in January of 2008, playing the final 35 games of the year with the Sundogs and recording 28 points (10g, 18a).

Liebel played 148 games of college hockey over four seasons at Colorado College (NCAA Division I) prior to starting his pro career in 2004.

The Mudbugs will begin their 13th season in Bossier-Shreveport on Friday, October 16 against the Laredo Bucks at CenturyTel Center. Season ticket packages for 2009-2010 are available now, so call (318) 752-BUGS or visit our website at www.mudbugshockey.com for more information.
