Arizona Sundogs News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League announced today that they signed goaltender Kyle McNulty for the upcoming 2009-10 season. In addition, the team has sent forward Tyler Liebel to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in exchange for future considerations.

McNulty, 27, joins the Sundogs after spending the 2008-09 season with the now-defunct New Mexico Scorpions, recording an 11-7-2 record in 23 appearances. The 5-foot-11, 178-pound netminder's .918 save percentage (SV%) was fifth-best in the CHL last season while his 2.82 goals against average (GAA) was ranked ninth-best among CHL backstops.

"Kyle impressed our coaching staff with his play while with New Mexico last season," said Arizona Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro. "The opportunity to sign Kyle presented itself when New Mexico announced its plans to go dark for the 2009-10 season and we wasted no time. We're confident he will pick up where he left off last season."

The native of Wakefield, Rhode Island earned Oakley/CHL Goaltender of the Week honors in late-February after posting a 3-1 record in four-straight starts and turning aside 125 of 138 shots for a .906 SV%.

Prior to turning pro, McNulty spent four seasons at NCAA Div. 1 Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. In 35 collegiate games, McNulty collected a 12-19-1 record, 2.66 GAA and .894 SV%.

Liebel, 27, accumulated 21 goals, 36 assists and 132 penalty minutes (PIM) in 73 regular season games with the Sundogs over the past two seasons.

The Osoyoos, British Columbia, native added seven points (3g/4a) and 32 PIM in 17 games during the 2008 playoffs helping Arizona to its first-ever Ray Miron President's Cup Championship.

"Tyler was a great addition to our team over the last two seasons," added Pietroniro. "We wish him the best of luck moving forward in his career."

The Sundogs are set to open the 2009-10 regular season at home at Tim's Toyota Center on Friday, Oct. 16 and Saturday, Oct. 17 against the expansion Allen Americans. Both games are slated for 7:05pm (Arizona time) starts. Season tickets are available for as low as $350. Ask about the 'No-Risk Protection Plan'.
