Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Today's Game- Batavia squares off against Vermont for the middle game of a three-game stand against the Lake Monsters. Afterwards, the Muckdogs head to State College for a three game series against the Spikes.
That was last night- Michael Donadio hit his second home run in his last four games last night agaisnt Vermont. The two runs from his homer were the only runs that the Muckdogs scored in the game. Batavia's bullpen gave up a run in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh to get to the 5-2 final. Batavia has now dropped six of their last seven games.
Donadio digging in- Michael Donadio has now hits in 14 of his last 17 games. He's tallied 21 hits, two home runs and has crossed the plate nine times in that span. He is second on the team with three home runs. He left St. John's with the second most all-time hits with 268.
Reynolds Raking- Sean Reynolds has been able to find the power in his bat this season. He currently leads the league in home runs and is second in the league in RBI's and also leads the league in runs scored. He is also the league leader in walks with 26. Reynolds currently stands in second in extra-base hits
Jammed Up July- Batavia's offense has slowed up significantly in the month of July. They have opened up the first half of the month with a 10-14 record, and have scored only 4.1 runs per game. That has taken a decline from the 5.2 runs per game that the Muckdogs were putting up in June.
Close Calls- Batavia has played a total of 38 games this season, 26 of which have been decided by two runs or less. The Muckdogs are 11-13 in those games. Batavia has the fourth best reord in one-run games, and the worst record in two-run games at 2-6.
Beginning from behind- The Muckdogs have had trouble with giving up early leads in ballgames. Batavia has trailed after the fifth inning on 20 different occasions so far this season, and have gone 4-16 in those contests.
Recent Roster Action- On July 26th, Luis Mojica was transferred to the GCL Marlins , and Tyler Kolek was promoted from the GCL Marlins
Marlins Update- The Marlins dropped 9-1 to Washington last night. Martin Prado went 2-4 and drove in the lone Miami run.
