Peter Ostensen had his own impressive first couple innings. He retired Vermont in order in the first. He gave up a leadoff single to Santino Rosso (Hofstra) in the second, who stole second. However, he got a couple flyouts and a strikeout to escape.

Rosso moved to third on a throwing error. However, he was thrown out at the plate on a grounder for the second out.
Knowles got some defensive help in the fourth inning, with a leaping catch at the wall by Marshall Toole (Wofford). Another quick fifth for Knowles shutdown the Blues in order.

Knowles retired the Blues in order in the sixth to close out his second quality start of the season. He finished with six strikeouts and allowed just one hit and walk. He gave way to newcomer Jack Walker (Toledo), who came in the seventh. He worked around a one-out single, with a strikeout and a ground out to maintain a 2-0 Vermont lead.
