
Mountain Lions Season Opener this Saturday Night to Feature Local Flavor

Sacramento, CA - TUESDAY, September 13, 2011 - The Sacramento Mountain Lions, of the United Football League, will feature an abundance of local flavor when they open their season THIS SATURDAY, Sept. 17 at Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium.
The Mountain Lions will host the two-time defending champion Las Vegas Locos. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and FAN FEST, a pre-game tailgate party, begins at 4:30 p.m.
MICK MARTIN and the BLUES ROCKERS, who have played the local scene since 1983, will be featured on the main Coors Light Entertainment Stage during Fan Fest from 5:30-7 p.m. Also playing during Fan Fest is a local Styx cover band, RENEGADE, and they will perform from 5:30-7 p.m. on the second Coors Light Entertainment Stage. Mick Martin and the Blues Rockers will also play at halftime inside the stadium.
Local MMA fighting legend URIJAH FABER's Team Alpha Male organization is an official partner of the Mountain Lions and they will be featured during each home game.
Former Elk Grove High, Colorado State and Cincinnati Bengals (1998-2003) linebacker ADRIAN ROSS will announce this season's games on KHTK 1140 alongside play-by-play man SCOTT MARSH. Ross is also an official Team Ambassador of the Mountain Lions and he is involved in community events throughout the year.
Each Mountain Lions home game will be aired on Comcast SportsNet California and local broadcasting legend GRANT NAPEAR (Sacramento Kings TV announcer, host of the 'Grant Napear Show' on KHTK 1140) will be the play-by-play announcer. Former NFL head coach JERRY GLANVILLE and former Sacramento area radio personality MIKE LAMB will also be involved in the broadcasts.
The Sacramento CITY POLICE and FIRE departments will be honored during the pre-game coin flip, with the chiefs from each department being featured. Also, the ROSEMONT HIGH SCHOOL DRUMLINE will be performing during Fan Fest and during the game on Saturday night. There will also be post-game FIREWORKS on Saturday.
"We consider our games to be community events and we want every aspect of our games to celebrate the best Sacramento has to offer," said Mountain Lions senior vice president JOE WAGONER.
Also adding to the local flavor, the Mountain Lions ownership group features prominent local businessmen DAVE LUCCHETTI (CEO of Pacific Coast Building Products) and ANGELO TSAKOPOULOS (founder and owner of AKT Development).
The musical acts featured at the second (Oct. 1) and third home games (Oct. 15) will also be local. WALKING SPANISH will be featured at the second game during Fan Fest while local hip-hop artist J.GIBB, represented by Caligold Entertainment, will be featured at halftime on Oct. 15.
Sacramento went 4-4 in 2010 and averaged about 18,250 fans for its home games.
