Waterloo, Iowa-Waterloo Black Hawks goaltender C.J. Motte has won the United States Hockey League's Goaltender of the Week award for the third time this season, the USHL announced Monday.

Motte won three games for the Black Hawks in a five day span. With the St. Clair, Michigan native in goal, Waterloo edged the Sioux City Musketeers on the road 4-3 in overtime last Tuesday. Friday, Motte held a shutout until the final two minutes as the Hawks won in Des Moines against the Buccaneers 5-1. Then he stopped all but one Musketeer shot in a 3-1 victory at Young Arena on Saturday. One average for the week, Motte stopped 17 of each 18 opposing shots, improving his season goals-against average to 3.18 and boosting his save percentage to 90.1%.

"C.J. has been a tremendous part of our improvement as a team since Christmas," said Waterloo Black Hawks Head Coach P.K. O'Handley. "With him playing well, our entire team is going onto the ice with more confidence."

Motte was also named Goaltender of the Week earlier this month on February 8th. His first weekly award was earned in late November. Former Hawk Steve Racine also won Goalie of the Week honors this season, and Willie Yanakeff, who was acquired by Waterloo from Sioux City at the trade deadline, was Goalie of the Week as a Musketeer in October.

Motte and the Hawks hope to continue their strong play during two games at Young Arena this weekend. The Fargo Force visit on Friday, before the Youngstown Phantoms come to town on Saturday. Both games begin at 7:05.
