Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights News Release

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights are pleased to announce that Andrew Mossbrooks will be heading to the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) to serve as the Director of Communications for the Peoria Rivermen.

Mossbrooks, 24, departs from Wilkes-Barre after joining the team as Director of Communications to start the 2018-19 season. In this role, the Pennsylvania native served as voice to both the NAHL and EHL Knights this past season.

"Andrew has been an important part of this organization over the last year," said Knights' Head Coach and General Manager Tom Kowal. "His broadcast is tremendous and he's done a great job in helping build our brand on social media. I told him earlier this year that I would recommend him to any professional hockey team and sure enough, he's making that jump."

A team known for their NCAA Commitments and select players that have made it to the National Hockey League, the Knights have also been building an off-ice alumni section that now includes Mossbrooks, along with former voice Tim Mullhaupt, who was promoted to the USHL a season ago, and former Assistant Coach Kerry Huffman, who has been with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in that role since the 2016-17 season.

"I have to thank Tim Mullhaupt for getting me in front of Tom Kowal last season when this opportunity with the Knights opened up," said Mossbrooks. "I grew up a little over an hour from Revolution Ice Centre, so for me to be able to stay close to home while getting to live my dream of broadcasting hockey was special. It's something I'll miss, but Tom Kowal, Andrew Whiteside, and Justin Schreiber helped me learn and get better throughout the year in the hopes I could keep progressing in the broadcasting world, and if it weren't for their patience and kindness, I wouldn't be where I am. I'll always be thankful to this staff, the players, parents, and fans for making this a memorable year in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton."

The Knights begin their season right around the corner on September 13th. In the meantime, the entire Knights' organization would like to wish Andrew the best of luck in Peoria, IL, and thank him for his contributions to the Knights over the last year.
