Morning Skate: Bulls Open 2015 vs. Frontenacs

BELLEVILLE, ON - The Belleville Bulls start the New Year on home ice with a good old-fashioned rivalry as they welcome the Kingston Frontenacs into the Yardmen Arena. This will be the 5th meeting between the two clubs. The Bulls lead the season series 3 games to 1. Kingston now sits 7th on the Eastern Conference standings with a 14-14-3-2 record. The New Years Day tradition continues when the puck drops at 4:05.

The Bulls suffered a tough road loss to the Barrie Colts on New Years Eve to begin the second half of the 2014/15 season. David Tomasek was the lone goal scorer for the Bulls in the contest. Andrew Ming and Jake Bricknell picked up the assists. Both netminders saw action between the pipes, Charlie Graham made 10 saves and Connor Hicks made 18.

Dallas Stars prospect, Remi Elie still leads the club in points with 12 goals and 20 assits in 33 games played. Jordan Subban is close behind with 13 goals and 15 assists in 35 games played. Over age forward Brett Welyhcka had a solid month of December posting 2 goals and 2 assists.

The Frontenacs have split their first two games to begin the second half of their campaign. Most recently, Kingston defeated the Eastern Conference leading Oshawa Generals 2-1 at the Rogers K-Rock Centre. Oakville, Ontario native Conor McGlynn was a top contributor for the Fronts in the first two games with 2 goals and an assist.

In 33 games played so far the Colts have been led by over age forward Robert Polesello who has posted 15 goals and 16 assists in 32 games played. 1996-born winger Spencer Watson is close behind with 13 goals and 15 assists just 22 games played.

Expect to see Nobleton, Ontario native Lucas Peressini start in goal for the Frontenacs. The six foot two, 185 pounder has seen action in 29 games thus far and owns a .925 save percentage. Peressini made 33 saves in Kingston's 2-1 win over the league leading Oshawa Generals on Tuesday, December 30th.

The Bulls will be looking to start the New Year on a high note as they try to bounce back from Wednesday nights road loss. Thursday's game marks the beginning of a three game home stand for Belleville.
