Knights Trade McCarron & Mermis; Acquire Pu & Sterk

London Knights General Manager Basil McRae announced today that the team has traded forward Michael McCarron and defenseman Dakota Mermis to the Oshawa Generals as a part of two separate transactions today.

In exchange for the Montreal Canadiens' 1st round pick Michael McCarron, the Knights received rookie forward Cliff Pu, Erie's 2nd round selection in 2016 & Oshawa's 3rd round selection in 2015. Pu, a Vaughan, Ontario native, was Oshawa's 1st round selection (16th overall) in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection. He was a member of the 2014 OHL Cup Champions Toronto Marlboros Minor Midget team. In 17 games with the Generals this season, he's recorded 2 goals and 1 assist.

In exchange for overage defenseman Dakota Mermis, the Knights received veteran forward Josh Sterk and Oshawa's 2nd round selection in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection. Sterk, a Mississauga, Ontario native, was a 5th round selection of the Kitchener Rangers in 2011. He played two years with the Rangers before being traded to the Generals in 2013. In 33 games with the Generals this season, Sterk has 10 goals and 28 points.
