Belleville Bulls News Release

BELLEVILLE, ON - The only game on the OHL docket tonight features the Bulls hosting their rivals to the east, the Ottawa 67's who enter play just a point behind the Niagara IceDogs for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Bulls are 2-4-0-0 on the season in their six encounters with Ottawa. Typically high scoring affairs, both clubs have played a wide open style against one another this season with Brendan Bell potting 4 goals and 4 assists in 6 games for Ottawa while Jordan Subban has answered back with 3 goals and 2 assists for the Bulls.

Ottawa netminder Philippe Trudeau has put forth back-to-back strong performances at the Yardmen with a 41 save shutout on December 28th and 46 saves in a 2-1 Ottawa win on January 18th.

The Bulls come into action off a 4-3 win over the Sarnia Sting on Saturday night. Jordan Subban's goal with 32 seconds left in the third period held off a Sarnia comeback after the Bulls had been up 3-0 to eventually see the Sting draw even at three.

Remi Elie has points in each of the last three games and continues to lead the Bulls in scoring with 16 games left in the regular season. Elie has 21 goals and 28 assists in 51 games.

The Bulls will need to be wary of Ottawa's sixth ranked powerplay tonight that is led by the big presence of power forward Ryan Van Stralen in the slot. Rookie sensation Travis Konecny who captained Ontario's Under 17 team is also an offensive catalyst, leading Ottawa in scoring this season with 19 goals and 38 assists.

The Bulls are without Jake Marchment who is listed as week-to-week with an upper body injury he sustained in Guelph on Friday night. Marchment has put together a solid rookie season in the OHL, being a reliable presence in the faceoff circle while scoring 9 goals and 19 assists in 51 games to go with a +8 rating.

It's the first of back-to-back games for the Bulls tonight who travel to Peterborough on Thursday before returning home to the Owen Sound Attack on Saturday. Tonight's game is presented by Medigas!

Game time is 7:05pm. For tickets, contact the Bulls box office at 613-966-8338 or click HERE for online ticket purchasing options.
