Central Valley Coyotes News Release
(Fresno, CA) â Offensive specialist Kenyatte Morgan broke another franchise record this past weekend against the Bakersfield Blitz. Morgan became the new single season franchise leader for most receiving yards in a single season with 1,266. The previous record was held by Steve Wofford who racked up 1,248 receiving yards in 14 games during the 2002 season. This milestone marks the fourth franchise record Morgan has broken in his first season with the Coyotes.
"I'm grateful to be apart of this organization and to break these records," said Morgan. "This organization has been supportive of me throughout the entire year and I am thankful to be affiliated with the Coyotes. I don't really concentrate on statistics, I just go out each game and try and put my team in a position to win football games. Stats will come and stats will go, but you can never take away wins and losses. I'm going to try and help my team win these two final games and if more records come along the way then so be it. A win is what's most important to me."
The offensive specialist also holds the records for most kick return yards in season and career, most all-purpose yards in a season and career and most return touchdowns in a season. With two games remaining in the regular season Morgan has his eyes set on the franchise records for most receptions in a season (107) (Morgan-100), most receiving touchdowns in a season (29) (Morgan-23), most offensive touchdowns in a season (30) (Morgan-26), and most points in a season (180) (Morgan-156).
Aside from the franchise records Morgan has already broken, he will also be attempting to break the af2 record for most all-purpose yards in a season. The current record is held by former Quad City Steamwheeler Ira Gooch, who tallied 3,472 yards in one season. Morgan has already posted 3,018 all-purpose yards this season and needs 455 yards in the final two games to become the new record holder.
"We are fortunate to have an athlete like Kenyatte on the team," said Head Coach Fred Biletnikoff Jr. "He shows no concern for the records he has broken or the records that are left to be broken. If he could trade in all the records he has in order to have a winning record, I know he would in a hear beat!"
The Coyotes will host the Hawaiian Islanders this Saturday, July 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Selland Arena. The first 2,000 fans through the doors will receive a limited edition Coyotes hat sponsored by Brett's Auto Center in Dinuba. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., but fans are encouraged to get to the arena early to ensure themselves a hat.
