Stallings Survives the Jungle

Louisville Fire News Release

Fire WR/DB Tony Stallings was joined by his wife, daughter, and Fire players and coaches last night at the Cardinal Hall of Fame Café as King of the Jungle 2 made its season debut on Animal Planet. Stallings made a good showing early as he won the first challenge and was named the King of the Jungle for the first episode. The first challenge was to pull a sled equal to their body weight through a small field. Stallings was handicapped after one of the contestants was allowed to add extra weight to his sled. The extra weight had no effect on Stallings as he won the challenge easily to be named the King of the Jungle to start things off.

As King Stallings, who the other contestants quickly named Tony the Tiger, had to assign each contestant an animal to represent them for the entire competition and pick two people to face the elimination challenge in the Lion's Pit. Stallings also got to sleep in his own tent with a big bed and mosquito net while the other contestants were in smaller tents with cots.

"I was nervous going into this. I knew once they saw me, they would see me as a physical threat." said Stallings. "So I wanted to win the first challenge so I could stay on a little longer."

The second episode did not start off as well for Stallings when he lost the title of King as the contestants faced a new challenge. Each contestant had to imitate a flamingo and stand on one leg on a wooden stump as long as they could. Stallings made it to the final five before falling off. As the time came for another elimination challenge, in the Lion's Pit, Stallings was spared and will be back next week.

King of the Jungle 2 will be on Animal Planet next Tuesday night at eight and continue through mid-September every Tuesday. Due to confidentiality agreements, Stallings is not able to say how far he made it on the show, but he did say "If you keep watching, I promise you will see a lot more of me."

The Fire will return home, for the final home game of the 2004 regular season, this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Freedom Hall to take on the Green Bay Blizzard. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive a Fire t-shirt courtesy of GMAC Financial. Tickets can be purchased by calling (502) 368-0009 or visiting Ticketmaster.com.
