OTTAWA -- The Ottawa REDBLACKS of the Canadian Football League have signed international defensive lineman Moton Hopkins to a two-year contract extension.

The 28-year-old from San Antonio, Texas joined the REDBLACKS for the inaugural 2014 season after being selected in the CFL Expansion Draft from the Montreal Alouettes.

Hopkins appeared in 13 games for Ottawa, making four starts. He made 13 defensive tackles, recorded one sack (on Winnipeg's Drew Willy on October 3 at TD Place), had a fumble recovery October 31 in Hamilton and a tackle for loss on September 5 at home against the B.C. Lions that resulted in a safety.

"Moton has talent, loads of character and is respected by his teammates, his coaches and fans. We're very happy to have him back with us," said REDBLACKS general manager Marcel Desjardins.

The 2015 home opener at TD Place is Saturday, July 4 against the B.C. Lions.
