Green Bay Blizzard News Release

Since Robert Garth's Ironman selection the Blizzard has received news of more players making the arenafootball2's (af2) top 10 lists. The play- ers named to lists are Robert Boss, Stephenol Santos, Peter Lazare, Matt Huebner, Steve Gonzalez and Joe Sykes as Blizzard players making the cut. Unlike Garth all of these new selections are past players for the Bliz- zard.

Robert Boss and Stephenol Santos made the top 10 lists for offensive lineman ranking fve and nine respectively. Santos is coming off a frst team selection at offensive line last season with the Blizzard and now re- ceived another honor with a nine ranking on the list. Since playing for the Blizzard, Boss has played a couple successful seasons for the Chicago Rush on his way to winning the ArenaBowl Championship last season with the Rush. Boss stated his gratitude when told the news about his number fve ranking, "It is an honor to be selected to the list. Not Expected." He went on to say how many talented players have been through the league and been on the Blizzard roster which are due tribute as well.

Peter Lazare also received recognition of his solid career in the af2, which he then took to the AFL where he played for the Columbus Destroyers and the Dallas Desperados. Lazare was ranked sixth on both the linebacker and fullback top 10 lists. In response to the selection he said, "Awesome, ap- preciate the coaching from Coach (Bob) Landsee...I also want to give re- spect to a lot of the other talented players who also came through the af2." Another fullback that made the top ten lists for his position is Matt Hueb- ner who ft into the number seven rank, one place behind Lazare. Huebner played with the Blizzard in 2005 before moving on to play two years with the Georgia Force in the AFL.

Blizzard kick returner, Steve Gonzalez, made the top ten kick returner list and was listed at number six all-time. The explosive and dangerous Gon- zalez made many big time plays during his time with the Blizzard last sea- son and was always an exciting player to watch.

Last year's defensive player of the year, Joe Sykes, was ranked fourth on the top 10 defensive lineman list. Sykes sacked the opposing quarterback 19.5 times last season beating number one on the list Khreem Smith's sea- son best 17 sacks. Sykes recently signed his Canadian Football League contract with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and will be playing with them starting this summer.
