Miami Morays News Release

Miami, FL – The time of year is upon Florida students again when their preparations to take the FCAT begins to wind down to one final weekend. The Morays came out to Edison Middle School in Liberty City to help the students with a positive message as they head to the testing on Monday.

Morays Assistant head coach Ray Isaac, quarterback Travis Wilson, and defensive back Harold Jacobs took to the stage in front of 300 students.

Isaac told the kids about the Miami Morays and the Miami Arena, but quickly went to the most important message of all. The student's education and what it means for the future.

"We all passed the test. It took me two times, but I worked hard to make sure it gave me the opportunity to play college football, and that opened up many doors for me," Isaac said. "Education allowed me to be versatile, allowed me to do something I love, and the most important thing to do is set goals to pass this test. I know you can do it, I can just feel it that you will pass this test."

Travis Wilson then took the microphone and quickly jumped off the stage. He pulled three volunteers from crowd. Separating two of them and standing them off to one side, he then somberly spoke to the lone student.

"No one is going to have it in their hearts and minds to not pass the test. Is it going to be you?" The young lady shook her head no.

Travis said that the statistics show that one third of them will fail the test. A voice from the crowd yelled out "The statistics will be wrong!"

"Ok, than you are going to prove them wrong? Statistics say that every time you take a test, there is going to be a victim. Are you all going to be the victim?" Wilson emphatically yelled, pointing to the screaming crowd and getting them yell loudly, "NO!"

"If you can prove the statistics wrong, if you can prove that everyone thinks you will be wrong, than you will pass the test and make it to the next level. You will prove them wrong. Don't be that statistic that says you are going to fail." Wilson ended saying as the students got more energetic and animated.

The last Moray to speak was Harold Jacobs. "Let me tell you something, the FCAT was rough on me. I had to take the test two times to get into college," Jacobs said with the enthusiasm of a preacher. "You can't go into that test doubting yourself and with a heavy heart. You have to have the mindset that you are going to pass this test."

Yelling out the individual names of the study groups, Jacobs pumped up the crowd to a deafening roar, "This is the intensity I want you to bring with you when you take that test."

The Hip Hop song "Bring Em' Out" by TI started blaring. The Morays just help rally the FCAT.
