Florida Firecats News Release
Estero, FL- Following Saturday's loss to Macon, Firecat linebacker Chris Morant now leads the league in tackles for a loss.
"I get a good night's rest the night before a game," Morant said in regards to mental preparation for a game. "I play the game in my head while I am sleeping and while I'm going to the game."
Morant, 6-0 and 248-pounds, picked up two tackles for a loss on Saturday, bringing his season total to 8.5. Not only does Morant lead the arenafootball2 in tackles for a loss, he also leads the Firecats in sacks (4.0) and quarterback hurries (5). Morant also has six pass breakups, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and two blocked kicks. He is also third on the team in tackles (31.0).
"I study my opponents so I will know what they're going to run," Morant said. "Basically, I try to make something positive happen every time I'm in the game."
Morant's teammate, defensive specialist Quincy Sorrell, leads the af2 in tackles. Sorrell has already racked up 71 tackles this season.
Morant does not limit himself to getting it done solely on defense. The agile Morant is a headhunter on special teams, and he is also ninth in the af2 in rushing.
