Florida Firecats News Release

Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats are excited to announce that they have signed a two-year lease extension to remain in southwest Florida.

"We are pleased to have the Firecats renew the agreement with Germain Arena," Craig Brush, Germain Arena/ Florida Everblades president, said. "We look forward to more Firecat football!"

The Firecats had their inaugural season in 2001. The team almost immediately developed into one of the premiere franchises of the arenafootball2. In only their second year of existence, the Firecats brought the first-ever professional championship to the area when they won the 2002 American Conference championship.

"We are happy to make an agreement (to bring) two more years of Firecat football to Fort Myers," Steve St. John, Vice President of Operations for Germain Arena, said.

The Firecats have consistently had one of the best attendances of all arenafootball2 teams since they began in 2001, which can only be attributed to the fans of southwest Florida.

"We are happy to be here," Chris Vallozzi, Firecats' president, said. "We hope to bring the ArenaCup championship here to southwest Florida."

The Firecats are poised for the 2004 playoffs, and they are chasing the first place Birmingham Steeldogs for the lead in the American Conference South Division. The Firecats will host the Steeldogs on July 10 in Germain Arena. Tickets for the crucial match up are available by calling (239) 390-2287.
