SEASIDE, California - Monterey Bay F.C. finished level at 2-2 against Sacramento Republic FC in an afternoon preseason match at Cardinale Stadium. Sam Gleadle and Alex Dixon scored a minute apart for the Crisp and Kelp, but Sacramento countered with two late goals of their own.

The Union's first dangerous look of the match came in the 10th minute when Alex Dixon found himself in space behind the visitor's back line on the right side of the 18-yard box, but his shot missed wide of the near post. Sacramento came close to breaking the deadlock in the 30th minute. A corner kick on the left side fell untouched in the box, but the shot from Republic FC missed to the outside. Five minutes later, Morey Doner fired a pass across the box towards Simon Dawkins, but his right-footed shot was saved at the near post. With just a minute before the halftime break, the Crisp and Kelp broke the match open with back-to-back goals. In the 44th minute, Dixon made a run down the left side of the box. His attempt to chip the goalkeeper was knocked down, but he managed to get back onto the ball and flick it into the center of the box towards Sam Gleadle for the flick into the back of the net. Less than a minute later, the duo reversed roles to double the lead. Gleadle fired a ball across the box towards Dixon, who smashed the ball past the goalkeeper and inside the left post for the 2-0 halftime lead.

Monterey Bay came close to a third in the 72nd minute of the match when Max Glasser found Walmer Martínez at the top of the box, but his left-footed shot missed just wide of the left post. Sacramento pulled one back in the 80th minute of the match with a shot inside the near post from Jack Gurr to bring Republic FC within one. The visitors looked likely to level the score five minutes later, but Gurr's shot aimed at the far post this time was blocked away by Hugh Roberts. Sacramento continued to apply pressure with a shot on goal in the 88th, but a diving save by Carlos Herrera kept the visitors off the board. The visitors broke the dam a minute later when Gurr doubled his total to level the score and the match ended at 2-2.
