
Montalbano Lifts Wings Past Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (27-25) defeated the Fort Worth Cats (33-22) 5-2 Thursday night at LaGrave field.
In the bottom of the second inning, Ryan Miller scored David Bergin from third on a fielder's choice giving the Cats an early 1-0 lead.
Thomas Shull led off the top of the fourth inning with a single into right field, Kenta Nishii then belted an RBI single scoring Shull from second tying the game at 1-1 even.
RGV opened up the flood gates with a four runs in the sixth inning.
Kieran Bradford scored on a RBI single from Nishii, giving the Wings a 2-1 lead.
Paul Montalbano stole the show with his first start in center field; Montalbano smacked a three run home run in the top of the sixth inning extending the lead 5-1.
Trent Evins (1-0) went the distance pitching a seven inning complete game allowing four hits on just two runs.
Thomas Shull finished the night going a near perfect 3-for-4 along with Montalbano's 2-for-3 night. Game two of the double header is set for thirty minutes after game one, the Wings will send Brett Miller to the mound.
