Cleveland Monsters News Release
Cleveland's Lake Erie Monsters will officially begin the 2013-14 season when they open their seventh annual training camp on Wednesday, September 25th. In addition to daily practice, this year's camp will also feature two preseason games against the Grand Rapids Griffins at regional neutral sites, plus an intrasquad skills competition in Strongsville, Ohio.
All practices are free and open to the public and will take place at the team's official training facility, OBM Arena at IceLand USA, in Strongsville. The Monsters will practice Wednesday through Saturday before heading north to play back-to-back preseason games with Grand Rapids.
The Monsters and Griffins will meet on Saturday, September 28th at 7:00 p.m. in Plymouth, Michigan. The game will be hosted by the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League at their home rink, Compuware Arena. The two teams will play again the following night, Sunday, September 29th, at 7:05 p.m. in Windsor, Ontario. The contest will take place at the home of the OHL's Windsor Spitfires, the WFCU Centre.
The Monsters will then return home on Monday, September 30th, to hold an intrasquad skills competition at 7:15 p.m. at OBM Arena. Tickets for the event will be available at the door for a $2 per person donation to the Monsters Community Fund, which supports Northeast Ohio programs that positively impact the areas of education, youth hockey, health & wellness and basic needs.
