
Monsters Sign Defenseman Michael Prapavessis to One-Year AHL Contract

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Monsters, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, announced Tuesday that the team signed defenseman Michael Prapavessis to a one-year AHL contract for the 2018-19 season. A 6'2", 185 lb. left-handed native of Oakville, ON, Prapavessis, 22, was originally selected by the Dallas Stars in the fourth round (105th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Last season, Prapavessis logged 0-2-2 with six penalty minutes and a +2 rating in the first professional action of his career, an 11-game stint with the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones, following his senior campaign at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) during which Prapavessis posted 0-19-19 with 18 penalty minutes and a -10 rating while serving as one the Engineers' captains. In 154 NCAA appearances for RPI spanning four varsity seasons from 2014-18, Prapavessis supplied 7-55-62 with 80 penalty minutes and a -46 rating.
