
Chicago Wolves Welcome Wagner, Weis and Gallant

GLENVIEW, Ill. - The Chicago Wolves announced Tuesday that forwards Ryan Wagner, Matthew Weis and Alex Gallant have been released from Vegas Golden Knights training camp and will be ready when the Wolves start preparing for the 2018-19 American Hockey League campaign on Sunday, Sept. 24, in Hoffman Estates.
Wagner, a 22-year-old Park Ridge native, made his professional debut with the Wolves on March 9, 2018, when he handed out an assist in a 4-3 victory at Milwaukee. The University of Wisconsin alum appeared in seven games for Chicago.
Weis, who completed his four-year career at Ohio State last spring, signed a standard player's contract with the Wolves on May 10 and will make his professional debut during the 2018-19 season. The 23-year-old Madison, New Jersey, native produced 40 goals and 82 assists in 136 games for the Buckeyes.
The 25-year-old Gallant signed a one-year contract with Vegas on July 1. The sixth-year pro spent last season with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch, where he posted 1 goal and 2 assists in 38 games and led the league with 194 penalty minutes. In 96 career AHL appearances spread over the last three seasons, Gallant contributed 2 goals, 4 assists and 442 penalty minutes.
Chicago opens training camp on Sunday at Triphahn Ice Arena in Hoffman Estates. The week-long session concludes with an exhibition game at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Milwaukee.
The Wolves host their 25th anniversary season home opener on Saturday, Oct. 13, against the Grand Rapids Griffins at Allstate Arena.
