Visalia Rawhide News Release
VISALIA â Lake Elsinore touched Gerrit Simpson for eight runs (seven earned) in four innings to beat the Oaks 9-1. The game made up for an April 17 rainout and was played on a previously scheduled off-day for both teams.
Visalia could manage only one hit in the first four innings against Jason Wiedmeyer who has won each of his first four starts of the season. Dan Phillips doubled in the second and in the fifth to collect the Oaks' first two hits of the afternoon. Phillips scored on Sean Barker's opposite field single with two out in the fifth for Visalia's only run of the game.
Wiedmeyer went seven innings to pick up the win. Nick Webb allowed only one run in four innings of relief and Sean Green pitched a scoreless ninth for Visalia.
Joseph Hastings hit a three-run homer to put the Storm in front 5-0 in the fourth. Greg Sain singled twice in the inning and drove in two runs on second hit. Freddy Guzman made the lead 9-1 with his second homer of the season, a solo shot in the sixth inning.
