LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS
At Hershey (5/12): The Manchester Monarchs late rally comeback fell short as the Hershey Bears took game one of the 2010 Calder Cup Eastern Conference Final, 4-2, at the Giant Center on Wednesday night. Centers Andrei Loktionov and Gabe Gauthier tried for a late comeback for the Monarchs but fell a couple of goals shy. Defenseman Sean Collins, right wing Andrew Gordon, center Steve Pinizzotto and defenseman Karl Alzner lit the lamp for the Bears. Monarchs goaltender Jonathan Bernier (8-3) took his third loss of the playoffs with 24 saves on 28 shots. Bears netminder Michal Neuvirth (7-0) earned his seventh win of the season stopping 24-of-26 shots. Manchester went 0-for-3 on the power play. Hershey was 1-for-5 with the man advantage.
At Hershey (5/15): Left wing Chris Bourque's goal at 10:28 of the overtime period lifted the Hershey Bears over the Manchester Monarchs, 3-2, in overtime at the Giant Center on Saturday night. Hershey has a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series of the 2010 Calder Cup Eastern Conference Final. Game three is at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester on Monday, May 17 at 7:00 p.m. Center Gabe Gauthier tallied both goals for the Monarchs. Bourque scored twice for the Bears, including the game-winner, and center Steve Pinizzotto picked up his fourth tally of the post-season in the third period to push overtime. Monarchs goaltender Jonathan Bernier (8-4) took his fourth loss of the playoffs with 37 saves on 40 shots. Bears netminder Michal Neuvirth (8-0) earned his eighth win of the post-season stopping 31-of-33 shots. Manchester went 1-for-4 on the power play. Hershey was 0-for-4 with the man advantage.
NEWS & NOTES
The Manchester Monarchs (8-4) find themselves down two games in the best-of-seven 2010 Calder Cup Eastern Conference Final series against the Hershey Bears.
This is the second time the Monarchs have advanced to the Eastern Conference Final in franchise history. Manchester previously met the Bears in the conference final during the 2007 Calder Cup playoffs and was swept by Hershey in four games.
During the regular season, the Monarchs and Bears finished with an even head-to-head record of 1-1.

The Monarchs handed the Bears one of only four regulations losses at the Giant Center during the regular season.
Left wing Bud Holloway (6-5=11) leads the Monarchs in goals scored with six tallies and points with 11. All of Holloway's goals have also been game-winners which ties him with right wing Darren Haydar for the most game-winning goals in one AHL post-season. Haydar completed his six game-winners in 21 games during the 2006 Calder Cup playoffs with the Milwaukee Admirals. Holloway has six game-winning goals in just 12 games this post-season.
Holloway is the only player in the AHL with six game-winning goals in the playoffs this season.
Holloway six tallies are tied for ninth place in the AHL.
After collecting a point in each of the first 10 games of the post-season, Holloway has been held off the scoreboard in the last two games against Hershey.
Center Gabe Gauthier (6-3=9) has recorded all six of his goals in the last six games for a total of seven points (6-1=7) during his current six-game streak.
Gauthier has moved into a second place tie on the Monarchs roster with right wing Trevor Lewis (5-4=9).
Lewis is in third place on the Monarchs roster with five goals.
Center Justin Azevedo (2-6=8) and center Corey Elkins (3-5=8) are tied for fourth place on the Monarchs roster with eight points in 12 games.
Center Oscar Moller (2-5=7) and center Andrei Loktionov (1-6=7) are tied for sixth place on the Monarchs with seven points each.
Goaltender Jonathan Bernier is 8-4 between the pipes this post-season. His 1.79 goals-against-average ranks second in the AHL and his .942 save percentage also ranks second the league. He's stopped 357-of-379 shots through 736 minutes of play.
