Monarchs Host Reading Timeout at Firehouse Community Center

WHO: Sacramento Monarchs players Chelsea Newton and Kristin Haynie, children from the Mutual Assistance Network of Del Paso Heights after-school program

WHAT: As part of the WNBA's Read to Achieve campaign, Sacramento Monarchs players Chelsea Newton and Kristin Haynie will visit children from the Mutual Assistance Network of Del Paso Heights and host a Reading Timeout. The players will read a book to the children and then host an interactive question and answer session. Each child will receive a goodie bag complete with a new book and Monarchs bookmark.

Read to Achieve is a year-round campaign to help young people develop a lifelong love for reading and encourage adults to read regularly with children. Reaching an estimated 50 million children a year, Read to Achieve is the most extensive educational outreach initiative in the history of professional sports.
