Manchester Monarchs News Release

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, on Friday agreed to terms on a one-year contract with unrestricted free agent right wing Tom Kostopoulos. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not announced. Kostopoulos, 25, appeared in a career-high 60 games last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, recording career-bests with 22 points (9-13=22) and 67 penalty minutes. The 6-foot, 200-pounder also appeared in 21 games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, registering 20 points (7-13=20) and 43 penalty minutes. A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Kostopoulos was a member of the Wilkes-Barre club that reached the 2004 Calder Cup finals. In 24 playoff games he led the club offensively and finished third among AHL post-season scoring leaders with 23 points (7-16=23) and 32 penalty minutes.

Originally selected by the Penguins in the seventh-round (104th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Kostopoulos has appeared in 79 career NHL games, all with the Penguins, and has 26 points (10-16=26) and 76 penalty minutes.

The NHL's future stars will all converge on Manchester on February 13-14, 2005, as the Manchester Monarchs host the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic at the Verizon Wireless Arena. At this time, the only way to ensure a ticket to this marquee event is to purchase one of the Monarchs three Season Ticket Packages. Tickets to the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic will go on sale to the general public this fall.
