Denver Outlaws News Release
DENVER - After earning an invitation to training camp at Outlaws' open tryouts, midfielder Noah Molnar earned a spot on the Week 1 roster.
The Outlaws announced their opening week 25-man roster on Monday, which included Molnar. A 6-foot-2, 215-pound midfielder out of Lehigh, Molnar recorded 71 groundballs during his four-year career at Lehigh before being drafted by the Rochester Rattlers last year.
"He is a big, strong and athletic lacrosse player who has the ability to help us as a defensive midfielder," General Manager Tony Seaman said.
The Outlaws open their 2014 campaign on the road at Florida. The contest begins at 7 p.m. EDT on Saturday, April 26.
Denver kicks off its home slate of the schedule Sunday, May 4 at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The team will be celebrating "May the Fourth be with You" with a Star Wars theme for that game. Click here for more information and to purchase tickets.
See below for quotes from Molnar:
On his thoughts on making the roster
"I felt like I could play in this league and I could have a place in this league. Coach (General Manager Tony) Seaman just handed me a helmet, told me I'll be heading to Florida next week and "Ëcongratulations.'"
On how he fits the team's style
"I love playing a hard-nosed brand of defense. "And then also have the speed and athleticism to push the ball in transition.
On the Outlaws' organization
"It just seems like it's a first-class organization. It's run really well, and it just seemed like a great thing to be a part of."
