San Diego Mojo News Release

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Mojo dropped a five-set decision to the Dallas Pulse, 26-24, 20-25, 12-25, 25-21, 15-11, on Friday night at Viejas Arena.

San Diego (13-12) saw its three-match win streak snapped, while Dallas (19-7) strengthened its hold on second place in the standings. The Mojo's magic number to clinch a Major League Volleyball playoff berth remains two with three matches remaining.

Maya Tabron led San Diego with a career-high 24 points, tying her career best with 22 kills while adding an ace, a block and 17 digs for her seventh double-double of the season. Grace Loberg contributed 17 points with 16 kills and a block to go with 11 digs for her eighth double-double.

Marin Grote turned in one of her most efficient performances of the season, finishing with 17 points on a season-high 13 kills on 24 swings for a .458 hitting percentage. She added 13 digs for her first double-double of the year, along with an ace and three blocks. Setter Marlie Monserez totaled 52 assists, surpassing 1,000 assists on the season for the first time in her career, adding four kills and a block, while Shara Venegas anchored the defense with 21 digs.

Dallas edged San Diego in a tightly contested opening set, overcoming a late Mojo lead to take a 26-24 win. The Pulse carried that momentum early in the second before San Diego responded with a dominant stretch, using a 9-1 run fueled by Tabron to even the match with a 25-20 set victory.

The Mojo took control in the third set, hitting efficiently and capitalizing on Dallas errors to cruise to a 25-12 win and take a 2-1 match lead.

Dallas answered in the fourth, using a mid-set surge to create separation and force a deciding fifth set with a 25-21 win.

In the final set, the teams traded points early before Dallas pulled ahead late, closing the match on a 5-0 run to secure the victory.

San Diego will travel to face the Columbus Fury on Sunday, April 26, with first serve set for 11 a.m. PT. The Mojo return home to host the Grand Rapids Rise on Thursday, April 30, at 7 p.m. at Viejas Arena as they continue their push toward the postseason.
