Mohawks Sweep Eagles

Glens Falls Dragons News Release

Glens Falls, NY: Amsterdam swept the Glens Falls Golden Eagles in a doubleheader at East Field by scores of 6-4 and 17-2.

Glens Falls kept everything tight in the first game before allowing the winning runs to come across in the top of the 6th. Both runs were scored off Matt Eckleman (St. Louis) but were charged to Kevin Cowan (William Patterson) who fell to 2-2 on the season.

Josh Anderson (FIU) and Bryan Ramirez led the offensive attack in the first game with Anderson going 3 for 3 at the dish and driving home 2 runs. Ramirez scored two runs and went 1 for 2 at the plate.

In the second half of the double header nothing seemed to go right for Glens Falls; spectacular plays in the field by the Mohawks robbed the Eagles of key hits to start a rally or even drive runs in.

Andy Cheray (Missouri State) got the start but never really got comfortable on the mound as he went 3.1 innings and gave up 3 earned runs but 9 total.

The key inning for Amsterdam came in the top half of the 6th when they brought 12 runs in to score as everyone in their lineup scored at least one run in the inning. Ed Charlton (NJIT) highlighted the inning with a 3 run homer off of Fernando Fernandez (Vanier [Que.]) . Most of the damage in the inning came in the form of bloop hits as the ball just wasn't bouncing the Eagles' way.

Glens Falls is back in action after an off day on Monday night in Newark as they take on the Pilots in a double header then return home to face Cooperstown on Tuesday night at 7pm.
