Jakob Romo gave the MN Wilderness Wilderness the lead in the first period, and the Soo Eagles was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-0.
Romo provided MN Wilderness with the game-winning tally when he scored 3:40 into the the first period. Dominik Tiffels assisted on the tally.
Romo had a great game for the Wilderness, netting two goals.
Soo's power play was ineffective against MN Wilderness' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.
The Wilderness stifled the Eagles' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. By firing 35 shots on goal, MN Wilderness exceeded the 28.6 shots it averages per game this year.
Other players who recorded assists for MN Wilderness were John May, who had one.
Soo put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Wilderness to score on any of their five power plays. The Eagles could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Soo puts an average of 2.3 pucks into the net per game.
The Eagles were led by Mike Sabatini, who took four shots.
Kasimir Kaskisuo rejected 22 shots on goal for MN Wilderness. The Wilderness incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Skoog Paige recorded 33 saves for Soo. The Eagles incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
