Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, TX — Officials from the Round Rock Express announced this morning that Major League Baseball is coming to Central Texas. Although it will only be for two days, fans will be able to catch the Colorado Rockies and Kansas City Royals as they play two games at The Dell Diamond on March 28th and 29th of next year.

"We're excited to bring Major League Baseball to Central Texas," said Express General Manager Jay Miller. Miller, who was contacted by Rockies General Manager Dan O'Dowd about the possibility of the games, said it's a tribute to the facility and the baseball fans in Central Texas. "Word has gotten out about The Dell Diamond and the fans in this area," Miller said. "The entire Express organization is proud to bring this type of event to the Central Texas."

The Rockies will start the season in Houston on Tuesday, April 1st against the Astros. The Royals open up the day before in Kansas City, hosting the Chicago White Sox.

"It's exciting to think about guys like Larry Walker, Todd Helton, Mike Hampton, Sandy Alomar, Todd Zeile and Mike Sweeney playing at The Dell Diamond," said Express President and CEO Reid Ryan. "Many of the guys that have played in Wichita (Royals Texas League AA affiliate) the last few years will be with the big league club as well," Ryan added.

Express season ticket holders will have the first right to purchase tickets to the two exhibition games in Round Rock, however the games will not be a part of any season ticket package. Tickets will go on sale to the general public in late February; the same time Express individual game tickets go on sale.
