
Mizzou Survives Panthers

O'Fallon, MO - The Mizzou Tigers survived a scared Tuesday night at T.R. Hughes Ballpark, hanging on to down Eastern Illinois University 8-6.
Mizzou started hot, behind designated hitter Jacob Priday, the Tigers were able to rally for seven to lead 7-1.
Tokarz homered in the visitor half of the first to give EIU the early lead.
The Panthers then slowly started to chip away at the six run Tiger lead. Eastern put up one run in the second and three in the third to bring them within two at 7-5.
Tiger starter Rick Zagone lasted through the seventh inning with his team adding another run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 8-5. Zagone gave up seven hits, five runs, three earned and struck out six while walking none.
The Panthers last push came in the top of the ninth off Tiger reliever Scooter Hicks, when Tristan Facer connected on his fourth home run of the season to make the score 8-6. But Hicks closed the door from there, earning his third save.
Zagone improved to 1-2 on the season with the win. Josh Mueller lasted just .2 innings in the start for the Panthers and dropped to 4-4.
Priday and Kyle Mach led Mizzou with two hits each. Mach finished with a Tiger best three RBI. Tokarz went 2-4 at the plate for the Panthers with the home run, three RBI and two runs scored.
The Tigers (29-10) will be back at T.R. Hughes Ballpark the following night, April 23, to play Southern Illinois University-Carbondale at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for all seats are $5 if booked ahead and $6 on the day of the game.
