
Mitch Love and Adrian Veideman Sign With Rivermen

PEORIA, Ill. (July 28, 2009) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today the club has signed forward Mitch Love and defenseman Adrian Veideman.
Love, 25, led the American Hockey League in fighting majors (34) last year as a member of the Houston Aeros. In 63 games, Love compiled 214 penalty minutes to go along with two goals and four assists. He also scored a goal and registered 32 penalty minutes in 16 playoff games last season.
The Quensel, BC native is entering his fifth professional season and has appeared in 218 AHL games for four different teams. After breaking into the league in 2005-06 with the Lowell Lock Monsters, he moved onto Albany and Lake Erie the following seasons before landing in Houston.
Veideman, 26, accounted for 27 points in 63 games as a member of the Iowa Chops during his first full season in the AHL. He was second among defensemen in both assists (21) and points for the Chops. A rookie in 2007-08, the Sicamous, BC native was an ECHL all-star for the Augusta Lynx. He also played six regular season games with the Portland Pirates as well as an additional six playoff games.
Undrafted, Veideman attended the University of Denver where he won back-to-back NCC National Championships with the Pioneers. While at Denver, he was a teammate of Rivermen defenseman T.J. Fast during the 2006-07 season and was the recipient of the Dr. Ralph Verploeg Award as Denver's Most Inspirational Player that same season.
