Tulsa Talons News Release

Tulsa, OK- The arenafootball2 League office announced Tuesday that Tulsa Talons wide receiver/linebacker Mitch Allner has been named the af2 Ironman of the Week. Allner had a big game on both sides of the ball as the Talons came from behind to defeat the Hawaiian Islanders, 58-38, Saturday night in Tulsa.

"I'm really happy for Mitch because I think he had one of his better games on the season," said Talons Head Coach Skip Foster. "He was certainly an instrumental part in our victory.

Allner's experience was decisive as he hooked up with quarterback Craig Strickland on a 10-yard score for what proved to be the game-winning touchdown. That score overturned a 38-37 deficit with 3:06 remaining in the game and sparked two more unanswered Talon scores.

The Morningside product finished the game with four catches for 29 yards and three touchdowns on offense. On special teams, Allner returned two kickoffs for a total of 80 yards and a missed field goal for six yards. Defensively, the af2 veteran made 2.5 tackles, one for loss, recovered a fumble and broke up a pass.

Tickets for Saturday's Talons – Twisters National Conference championship game are available at local Drug Marts, the Tulsa Convention Center Box Office, the Talons office, or by phone at 584-2000.
