Missouri Power Play Tops Sundogs, 7-2

PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ - Three power play goals and a four-point night by Dale Mahovsky propelled the Missouri Mavericks to a 7-2 victory over the Arizona Sundogs on Wednesday night at Tim's Toyota Center. The Mavericks scored seven unanswered goals after the Sundogs held a 2-0 lead through the first period of play.
JP Chabot and Kyle Hood scored the first period goals for the Sundogs (1-2-0). Hood's came on the power play and gives him points in each of the team's first three games.
The Mavericks (3-0-0) rattled off two goals in the first 1:18 of period two to tie the game. Nathan O'Nabigon scored on the power play and John-Scott Dickson added a goal. Mahovsky scored the final two goals of the period midway through and with 1:24 remaining for his two goals on the night. He also added two assists in the contest.
Sebastien Thinel, Brandon Coccimiglio, and Kris Hogg each scored for Missouri in the third period.
Charlie Effinger took the win for the Mavericks with 48 saves. Scott Reid took the loss for Arizona after stopping 26 of 33.
The Sundogs went 1-for-7 on the power play, while the Mavericks were 3-for-3.
The two teams meet again on Friday at 7:05 PM at Tim's Toyota Center.
