Bloomington Blaze News Release
The Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, host a familiar rival as the Quad City Mallards invade U.S. Cellular Coliseum for Central Hockey League action on Friday and Saturday nights.
The Blaze are coming off a season-opening 5-4 overtime victory over the Dayton Gems last Saturday, while on the same night, the Mallards dropped a 5-1 decision to the visiting Rapid City Rush. Opening face-off is at 7:05 both Friday and Saturday evening.
Friday is Kitchen Cooked Potato Chips Family Night, when for the second straight game fans can purchase a Family 4 Pack (four tickets, four hot dogs, four chips, four drinks) for only $25. The special Family 4 Pack price is available only at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum box office. Saturday is Bobak's Sausage Free Food Night, when all fans in attendance will receive a free hot dog, chips and drink courtesy of Bobak's, Kitchen Cooked Potato Chips and Pepsi.
ROSTER MOVES: The Blaze placed goaltender Marco Emond on the 10-day injured reserve list, retroactive to Sunday, due to a concussion he suffered in overtime during the Blaze season opener on Saturday. The Blaze on Thursday signed goaltender Zane Kalemba, a 25-year-old native of Saddle Brook, New Jersey who played 19 games in 2010-11, his first professional season. Kalemba played one game with the CHL's Missouri Mavericks, with the remaining contests split between Elmira, Reading and Stockton in the ECHL. During his junior season at Princeton University, Kalemba was named the ECAC Player and Goalie of the Year and was a Top Ten Finalist for the 2009 Hobey Baker Award, given to the nation's top collegiate hockey player. Also on Thursday, the Blaze waived goaltender Dan Venet, who did not see action in the Blaze opener.
