Visalia Rawhide News Release

VISALIA -- The Visalia Rawhide failed to cash in on scoring chances throughout the game, as Rancho Cucamonga rallied late to beat the 'Hide 6-3 on Saturday night in front of a packed house at Rawhide Ballpark.

The Rawhide (5-3) were just 1-for-10 with runners in scoring positions and left seven men on over the course of the evening. After Quakes outfielder led the game off with a home run, the Rawhide would respond in the bottom of the frame when Pedro Guerrero could not fully turn a 6-4-3 double play on a ground ball from Jon Griffin, allowing Mike Freeman to come home and score from third.

Yazy Arbelo continued to showcase his power, as he blasted a solo shot to right field in the second inning off of Rancho starter Andres Santiago. Arbello now has three home runs to start off the season.

Visalia starter Anthony Meo pitched well for the most part, but started to unravel in the top of the 5^th after he allowed a couple of runners to advance and score on a pair of wild pitches. Leon Landry came home to score on what would end up being a very bizarre play. Quakes runner Tyler Henson broke for second base and catcher Raywilly Gomez through to second in an attempt to pick him off. With Henson stuck in a rundown, Landry broke from third base, stealing home to score.

The game remained tied until the top of the 9^th inning, when Rancho Cucamonga (4-5) strung a series of blooper hits together off of Rawhide reliever Blake Cooper (0-1).After a lead off walk and four hits, the Quakes provided the final score of 6-3. Quakes reliever Logan Bawcom (1-0) silenced Visalia's bats in the final two frames to secure the victory.

The Rawhide and Quakes will play a double-header tomorrow starting at 2 p.m. to make up for Friday's rainout. Tomorrow is Bark in the Park day at Rawhide Ballpark, so bring your dog out to both games with a $3 pooch pass, benefiting the Love of Animals organization.
