Miss Colorado Teen USA to Drop Rage Game Puck Saturday
March 13, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Broomfield, Colo. - On September 24th 2006, Colorado watched as Hilary Cruz, a senior from Louisville, saw her dream come true. This small town girl was crowned Miss Colorado Teen USA 2007. This was her first pageant. This Saturday, March 17th, Cruz will experience another first. She will be in attendance at the Broomfield Event Center to drop her first game puck when the Rage hosts the Odessa Jackalopes (7:05 p.m. game time).
Cruz will be signing autographs on the concourse before the game and during intermissions as well as visiting suites. Cruz can also be found in the BEC Club Restaurant during the St. Patrick's Day game-worn specialty jersey auction following the game.
Little known fact: Rocky Mountain Rage defenseman Kyle Kos served on the judges panel in September for the Miss Colorado Teen USA and Miss Colorado USA pageants.
About Miss Colorado Teen USA: Hilary Cruz has played many roles in her life, but never that of a beauty queen. She has preformed in over 15 plays throughout her life and attributes being comfortable on stage with her experiences as an actress.
During her reign Cruz will continue to work with E.F.A.A., Emergency Family Assistance Association, a charity that helps people in financial crisis one day become more self-sufficient. Also, she plans on speaking to girl and boy scout troops, as well as elementary and middle school students about achieving goals, leadership and making smart decisions. "I know the struggle some kids go through and I would love to be an example of what hard work and determination can do for you," she says.
Cruz' message to young people is "do the right thing, for the right reason." She realizes that it is always important to be proud of the things you do and why you do them. Cruz hopes she is an encouragement to kids about planning for their future! "Talking to kids just touches my heart, I feel so blessed that I am getting this opportunity."
Miss Cruz will compete in the Miss Teen USA national competition that will be televised on NBC in August of 2007! She plans on making Colorado very proud!
