
Laredo Falls To Mudbugs 5-3

Laredo Bucks News Release
BOSSIER CITY, Louisiana - The defending CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks fell 5-1 to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at the CenturyTel Center on Tuesday night in front of 4,302 fans. The Bucks have lost back-to-back games as Mudbugs forwards Chris and Cam Abbott each had a pair of goals. Overall Laredo is still a Southern Conference best 39-15-5 and they are second in the CHL with 83 total points. Laredo returns home on Friday against Austin. The first 2,000 fans get a Bucks megaphone courtesy of Laredo Community College. Also on Saturday Laredo hosts Memphis in the final home game of the 2006-07 regular season. The Bucks will wear St. Patrick's Day jerseys which will be auctioned off after the game. In addition the first 3,000 fans will get a Bucks Scroll Sign courtesy of AT&T. The Mudbugs struck first as forward Chris Abbott put in a rebound off the shot by his twin brother Cam Abbott at 2:16. Bossier extended their lead to 2-0 when forward Forbes MacPherson tipped in a shot from the point at 12:16 of the first.
The Mudbugs extended their lead to 3-0 in the second period when Cam Abbott scored on a rebound chance at 3:56.
Early in the third period Bossier continued to add to their lead. Chris Abbott and Cam Abbott each scored at :39 and at :54 seconds respectively to run the advantage to 5-0. The Bucks broke up the shutout when forward James Hiebert scored in his return for Laredo at 2:33. FINAL SCORE Bossier-Shreveport 5, Laredo 1.
John DeCaro stopped 35 of 36 Bucks shots in 60 minutes and improved to 21-7-4. Eric Marvin allowed four goals on 14 shots in 40:39 and took the loss to fall to 20-6-4. Kevin Reiter allowed one goal on six shots in 19:21 to finish up in net. The Bucks were 0-3 on the power play, while the Mudbugs went 0-2. Laredo out shot Bossier-Shreveport 36-20.
