GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Sanaldo, California Cougars, GK

Sanaldo picked up two road wins over the weekend against the Philadelphia KiXX and the Baltimore Blast. Sanaldo saved nine of 12 shots faced against the KiXX and allowed just three goals in the 8-6 overtime victory. He followed that performance with an impressive stand against his former team, the Baltimore Blast, a 12-10 Cougars victory at First Mariner Arena. Sanaldo saved 15 of 20 shots faced by his former squad. Five of his 15 saves happened in the fourth quarter. The Blast took 11 shots on goal in that quarter, and 26 overall in the game. Sanaldo allowed five goals in the game. The fifth goal was scored by Blast rookie Lucio. Sanaldo attempted to stop the shot and dislocated his pinky on his left hand in the process. After several agonizing minutes, and the diligent work of the team trainer, the finger was put back in place and Sanaldo stayed in the game to earn his League-leading fourth win of the season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Ryan Hall, California Cougars, D

Hall continued his pursuit toward 100 blocks in a season with seven blocks over two road games in MISL Week 7. Hall blocked four shots against the Philadelphia KiXX in the Cougars 8-6 overtime win on Friday night. He made several incredible stops including a battle over his former teammate Aaron Susi that kept the Cougars on top late in the game. Hall focused solely on his defense in both games. He did not take a shot on goal in the Philadelphia game, and registered one shot in the win over the Blast. Baltimore had yet to lose at home this season until Hall and the Cougars beat them Saturday night, 12-10. Hall picked up three more blocks in the game and currently leads the MISL with 21 blocks through seven games played.

CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Chris Handsor, California Cougars, F

Handsor made a move toward the top of the PUMA Scoring Leader board with five goals over two games in Philadelphia and Baltimore. Handsor picked up two goals, including the game winner in overtime against the KiXX on Friday night, and then scored three more against the Blast in Baltimore. The Cougars won both games, 8-6 in overtime over Philly, and 12-10 over the Blast in Baltimore. Handsor also accounted for what turned out to be the game winning goal against a Baltimore team that had yet to lose at home this season. Handsor moves to the number four spot on the scoring leaders list with his 10 points over the weekend. Handsor has 21 total points this year with five assists and eight two-point goals.

Greg Howes, Milwaukee Wave, F

Howes scored 12 points in two wins over Monterrey this past weekend, moving into the top spot in the MISL scoring race with 25 points. Howes record five points on two goals and an assist in the 23-17 win at La Raza. Then Howes earned seven points on three goals and an assist in a 16-10 victory on Saturday. Howes' second goal on Saturday gave the Wave 12 points and accounted for the game-winning tally.
