(WESTPORT, CT. – July 29, 2003) The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) held a dispersal draft of former Harrisburg Heat players on Monday, July 28. The Harrisburg franchise has been declared inactive for the 2003-04 MISL season. Four players from Harrisburg's roster have been placed on a protected list and will revert back to Harrisburg when the franchise is reactivated for the 2004-05 season. The players are David Bascome, Chris D'Amico, Ato Leone, and Genoni Martinez. All nine of the MISL's active teams for the 2003-04 season selected players from the list provided by the MISL. The order of selection was Monterrey, St. Louis and the other teams determined by the order of finish in the 2002-03 regular season.

In all, 39 players were selected in the nine rounds of the draft. Monterrey selected MISL Defenseman of the Year, Genoni Martinez with the first selection overall. St Louis followed by drafting forward Ato Leone. The third pick belonged to the Dallas Sidekicks and they drafted forward Marco Lopez. San Diego had the number four spot in the first round and the Sockers selected defenseman Chris Morman. Kansas City took advantage of their next selection to draft defenseman Matt Tanzini. Harrisburg's leading scorer and All-Star forward David Bascome then went to the MISL Champion Baltimore Blast in the sixth position. Cleveland drafted midfielder Marco Coria, Philadelphia KiXX selected forward Nikola Vignjevic and the Milwaukee Wave rounded out the first round by picking midfielder Kevin Burk.
