Miracles Get Struck Down by the Lighting

(London, ON) The Moncton Miracles, presented by Rogers, lost to the London Lightning with a final score of 93-115. The Miracles now sit with a 11-15 record.

The two teams would come out even in the first 6 minutes of play and were tied up at 14-14. London would then take over the remainder of the first quarter and would be hanging on to a 24-34 lead when the buzzer went. The second quarter was evenly matched with the Lightning scoring 26 points in the second and the Miracles scoring 23 points.

London was outshining Moncton from the 3-point line shooting 54.55% while Moncton was shooting 30.77%. The Lightning shot a solid 80.00% from the free-throw line while the Miracles could only pull out 69.23%.

The Lightning would come out stronger in the third quarter building on a lead that Moncton would never be able to close in on. Eight London players would finish the game in double digits as well as out shooting Moncton everywhere on the court. It was clear why they are the top ranked team in the league.

Devin Sweetney led the way for the Miracles with 19 points. Isaac Butts followed with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Elvin Mims was the force for the Lightning with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Jeremy Williams was next with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Miracles will then be attending the Hoop Classic Brunch on Saturday, January 12th. On the morning of January 14th the players will be visiting Lou MacNairn to talk about their School Pride Program. They will also be going to West Riverview School, Frank L. Bowser, and Lower Coverdale School this upcoming week.

The Miracles play their next game at home on Sunday, January 13th against the Saint John Mill Rats. Tip-off is 2pm at the Moncton Coliseum.
