
Miracles Get Struck Down by Lightning

(London, ON) The Moncton Miracles, presented by Rogers, lost a third straight game to the unbeaten London Lightning with a final score of 110-131.
London came out strong showing an obvious home court advantage and in less than 2 minutes had taken a quick 0-7 lead over Moncton. Devin Sweetney would be the Miracles saving grace getting them on the scoreboard with their first 4 points of the game to make it competitive in the first quarter. By the 6-minute mark the Moncton had gone on a run of their own and had a 12-9 lead. The first quarter ended tied up at 22-22.
The Miracles started the second quarter with the momentum and pulled ahead quickly 30-22. Lightning's Rodney Buford his 3 3-pointers in a row and the game was soon tied up again at 36-36. The half continued to be a battle at both ends of the floor but with everything falling for London the half ended with them pulling at 52-44.
The second half proved defeat for Moncton with London taking over at the buzzer. The Lightning came out in the third quarter outscoring the Miracles 28-37. London shot a whopping 88.89% (40-45) from the free-throw line while Moncton shot 67.44% (29-43). Buford led the Lightning at the 3-point line with the team shooting 55% (11-20) and the Miracles coming up short with 35.48% (11-31).
Devin Sweetney led the way for the Miracles with 34 points. Darrell Wonge followed with 19 points and Tyrone Levett with 16 points.
Rodney Buford was the top scorer for the Lightning with 26 points. DeAnthony Bowdens was right behind him with 17 points.
Technical fouls were handed out to London's Jermaine Blackburn and Elvin Mims.
Upcoming Community Events: The Miracles will be at Lower Coverdale School Monday afternoon for an assembly to talk about their School Pride Program. The team will also be visiting Gunningsville School and Harrison Trimble High School. They will also be helping pack food boxes for Head Start on Thursday from 12pm to 3pm.Come out and meet your favorite Miracles players!
