
Miracles Fall Hard in Game 1 to the Lightning

(Ontario, ON) The Moncton Miracles, presented by Rogers, fell to the London Lightning in Game 1 of Round 2 in the NBL of Canada Playoffs with a final score of 80-106. The Lightning lead the series 0-1.
The first 12-minutes of play was a toss up with the lead going back and forth between the two teams. The biggest lead would come early in the game when London was up 2-6. The next 8 minutes of play was close with Moncton taking a 3-point at one point before London would come back. Miracles Devin Sweetney would score 9 points in the first quarter to bring his team within 1-point at the end of the first quarter, 17-18.
Moncton would put a push on in the first 5-minutes of play and take a 35-27 lead when Sweetney would hit a 3 for his squad forcing London to call a time-out. The Miracles would lead by 11-points twice during the second quarter which the Lightning continue to try and shorten. The first half would end with Moncton taking a 44-41 lead.
The Lightning would come out on fire in the third quarter and would take over the lead 3 minutes in and never look back. The Miracles would be outscored 17-33 to finish the quarter down 61-76. With London shooting 50.0% from behind the arc after the first 36 minutes of play and Moncton only shooting 19.05% it was just a matter of time before they built up their lead.
The last 12 minutes of play would continue with the Lightning hitting shots all over the court and strengthening their lead over the Miracles. London's Elvin Mims would hit a 3 with 4:16 left to play in the game to give his team their first 20-point lead of the game, 71-93. With 2:35 left to play the Lightning would break the 100-point mark, 76-100.
Isaac Butts led the way for the Miracles with 27 points and 16 rebounds. Devin Sweetney followed with 24 points while Kamar Burke added in with 9.
Elvin Mims was the force for the Lightning with 26 points. Adrian Moss was next with 17 points and DeAnthony Bowden dropped 15 points.
Upcoming Community Events: The Miracles play Game 2 of Round 2 of the NBL of Canada Playoffs on Wednesday, March 27th against the London Lightning. Tip-off is 7pm AST/ 8pm EST at the Budweiser Gardens. The Miracles return home for Game 3 on Friday, March 29th.
