Miracle Split Twin Bill With Tortugas

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Miracle and the Daytona Tortugas split a doubleheader on Saturday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Fort Myers took game one, 5-1, and Daytona held on in game two, 5-4.

In game one, Brusdar Graterol (2-2) struck out 10 in 5.2 innings to earn his second straight win. Jovani Moran retired all four batters he faced and picked up his second save.

Alex Kirilloff extended his hitting streak to 11 games with an RBI single in the first. He picked up an RBI double late in game two to move the streak up to 12.

With the game tied, 1-1, in the fifth, the Miracle scored three runs. A pair came home on a two-run single by Royce Lewis. Taylor Grzelakowski also had two RBI in the contest.

In game two, the Miracle fell behind early and never recovered. Malik Collymore blasted a two-run homer to left in the opening inning. Brantley Bell had a solo shot leading off the home half of the second.

Fort Myers had just one hit until the sixth, when they scored four runs to get back into the game. Lewis started the rally with a walk and later scored on an RBI double by Kirilloff.

Ernie De La Trinidad, just acquired from Arizona and playing in his Miracle debut, delivered a two-run single and then came all the way around to score when the ball got past Collymore in right field.

Andro Cutura (3-6) suffered the loss for the Miracle, allowing his first two home runs of the season. Hector Lujan walked two and struck out two in relief. Scott Moss (12-3) took the league lead in wins with 5.2 strong innings. He allowed two runs on three hits. Joel Kuhnel retired all four batters he faced to pick up his 12th save.

The series concludes on Sunday evening at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. First pitch is 5:35 p.m. ET. Left-hander Bryan Sammons (0-0) will start for the Miracle.
