Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

FORT MYERS, FL - After going hitless through nearly six innings, the Miracle got a two run home run off the bat of Nate Hanson, but that was all of the offense they would muster in a 3-2 loss to the Mets. With the win, St. Lucie (12-17) takes two-of-three from the Miracle (12-17) as they even their season record with each other at 3-3.

Mets starting pitcher Kyle Allen carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning with two outs. After a walk to Brandon Roberts, Miracle second baseman Drew Thompson stroked a opposite-field single to end the hitless night for his team against the right-hander. Yangervis Solarte then walked to load the bases for Evan Bigley, but Allen was able to get out of the jam as he induced an inning ending groundout to keep the shut out intact.

The 20-year-old allowed only one baserunner heading into the sixth frame, walking Deibinson Romero in the second.

Trailing 3-0 in the seventh, Nate Hanson stroked a monster two-run home run off of Allen to end his night. After a one-out base hit to Chris Herrmann, Hanson smashed a fastball over the left-field wall to bring the Miracle within a run.

For the second straight night, the Mets bullpen was able to hold tight as they got scoreless work from Emary Frederick and closer Manuel Alvarez. Alvarez picked up his seventh save of the season.

Allen (3-2) picked up his third win of the year, allowing only two runs on three hits.

Once again the Mets were able to score in the first inning, something they've done in all six games played against the Miracle this season. After a leadoff walk by Emmanuel Garcia, Eric Campbell and Josh Satin both doubled to give St. Lucie the early 2-0 lead against Miracle starter Bruce Pugh.

After a one-out single by Wilfredo Tovar in the second, Pugh and his catcher Chris Herrmann combined for a strike-out throw-out double play as Tovar tried to steal second to end that inning.

Pugh then recorded six more consecutive strikeouts as he fanned seven straight St Lucie batters. He retired nine in a row from the end of the second inning until the end of the fifth, with a two out walk issued to Emmanuel Garcia to end the streak. Pugh was able to strike out the next batter as he would finish with nine punch outs on the night.

Pugh was the tough luck loser in Saturday's action, as he falls to 2-4 on the season. The right-hander allowed only two runs on three hits in five innings of work.

Fort Myers will have their first day off in a month on Sunday, before returning to action on Monday where they will begin a five-game road swing to Tampa and Bradenton. Fort Myers will play a four-game series against the Yankees, before heading to play the Marauders next Friday night before returning home on Saturday to begin a nine-game home stand at Hammond Stadium. First pitch Monday night from Tampa is set for 7:05 p.m. with the broadcast heard both on www.miraclebaseball.com and 770 ESPN Radio. The "Voice of the Miracle" - Alex Margulies - will carry the action.
