Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
FORT MYERS, Fla. - This year, the Fort Myers Miracle are asking the question, 'Oh, say can you sing?' The Miracle are hosting national anthem auditions for the 2014 season at Miromar Outlets on Saturday, January 18 for an opportunity to sing at Hammond Stadium this summer.
Auditions will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. near Bloomingdale's at Miromar Outlets. Participants are encouraged to pre-register by contacting Savannah Martin at SMartin@miromar.com, but may also sign-up the day of the event as available time slots allow. Check-in and registration begins at 12:45 p.m.
"With construction taking place at Hammond Stadium, we appreciate Miromar Outlets offering a space to host auditions," said John Kuhn, Senior Director of Business Development for the Miracle. "Each season, we have many requests to sing the anthem."
Soloists, instrumentalists and groups are welcome to sing. Participants under the age of 18 will need parental consent on-site before being allowed to perform.
"This is a terrific opportunity to showcase our local talent," said Jeff Staner, Vice President of Miromar Outlets. "We're looking for singers of all ages to come out and sing their best rendition of our national anthem. We invite them to bring along their own cheering sections for support and everyone is welcome to watch the auditions."
A group of celebrity judges will score each participant and one lucky performer will be selected to sing at a Minnesota Twins Spring Training game in March.
