Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
FORT MYERS, FL (June 29, 2006) - With the Fort Myers Miracle shorthanded on Wednesday night, they were forced to use pitcher J.P. Martinez in left field for the final six innings of the ballgame. The Miracle will get some relief on Thursday night adding infielders Thomas Cowgill and Juan Delgado from the GCL Twins.
The 22-year-old Cowgill was a 40th round pick of the Twins in this years June Amateur draft. In five GCL games he is hitting .231-1-2. In 13 at bats he has scored four runs, walked six times and struck out just once.
The 19-year-old Delgado was signed as a non drafted free agent in 2004 out of the Dominican Republic. In four games at the GCL this season he is hitting .286-0-2. In 14 at bats he has one triple, scored four runs while walking three times and striking out six times.
The Miracle roster now stands at 24 players, one shy of the league maximum of 25, 11 pitchers and 13 position players.
