CLEARWATER -- Michael Tarsi went five innings and the Miracle offense provided the support in a 6-1 victory over the Clearwater Threshers on Friday night at Bright House Field.
Tarsi (3-1) gave up one unearned run on four hits, with two walks and two strikeouts. Matt Williams and Henry Arias worked two scoreless innings each, with Williams fanning two and Arias one.
Jon Velasquez (1-4) took the loss as he gave up three earned runs on five hits in five and two-thirds, with four walks and three strikeouts. Santo Hernandez surrendered two runs in relief, and Chris Kissock allowed one unearned run in the ninth.
Rene Leveret went 2-for-5 with a run-scoring double and an RBI groundout. Chris Parmelee and Estarlin de los Santos also contributed two-hit games, while Parmelee, Joe Benson, de los Santos, and de San Miguel chipped in with runs batted in. Fort Myers scored two in the first and never trailed. The team would later add two more runs in the eighth on two bases-loaded walks. Single runs came in the third and the ninth.
Game three of the series will start at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday night.
