Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

FORT MYERS -- The Fort Myers Miracle slugged three home runs in a game for the first time all season on the way to a 7-6 victory over the visiting Jupiter Hammerheads on Tuesday afternoon.

Right fielder Chris Parmelee got it started in the first with a two- run blast deep to right-center. It was his ninth of 2009. The wind was blowing out strong toward right, but all three homers were well- hit line drives that may not have received that much help from the wind. Centerfielder Ben Revere crushed the longest homer of the day the very next inning, a line drive deep and gone to straightaway right. It was Revere's second shot of the season, establishing a new career high, and it also came with two outs.

Finally, Steve Singleton continued the theme with a two-out, two-run homer on another smoked liner to right field in the sixth inning. The Miracle (42-26) also recorded a run on a Deibinson Romero sacrifice fly in support of Deolis Guerra (5-7), who gave up two earned runs on six hits in six innings to win his first since May 29. Loek van Mil walked in two runs in the seventh, with one charged to Guerra. It was van Mil's first earned run of the year, bumping his ERA up to 0.69.

Spencer Steedley, despite giving up two runs in the ninth with two outs, recorded his third save.

Elih Villanueva (6-6) took the loss for Jupiter (34-32) on five earned runs, eight hits, and two homers in four innings.

The Miracle and Jupiter will meet for the rubber match of the series on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.
